In 2012, the Rhodes family acquired a traditional promotional products company called Black Sheep Promotions. Black Sheep had been a successful company serving customers from all sectors for nearly 20 years, but Austin and Thomas Rhodes had a new vision for the company that few saw coming. Instead of trying to be everything to everyone, they wanted to focus their efforts on bringing value to those closest to their hearts - educators. Growing up, their mother was a teacher and they witnessed her pour out time and energy to her students ceaselessly. Her compassion and giving nature is what drove the brothers to create a unique company that looks not at the bottom line as a measure of success, but rather the impact it makes in the community it serves.
Because their vision is to deliver the utmost value, the Rhodes brothers’ new company had to negotiate effectively with suppliers in order to bring educators quality products that fit their tight budgets. And limited budgets aren’t the only obstacle that educators face. Many educators get taken advantage of because they don’t have ample time to shop around for the best deal on branded items. Austin and Thomas saw a need for a true partner who could consult with educators on what items to purchase for ongoing activities, special events and the day-to-day needs of the school.
After seven years of learning the industry under the Black Sheep name, Austin and Thomas launched Rhodes Branding in their downtown Columbia, South Carolina office. Rhodes Branding is solely focused on the education market and bringing value to our most valuable community members - educators. The support of educators has been amazing!
