Portland Public Schools’ Career and Technical Education (CTE) programs are no longer simply wood shop or automotive technology. Today, the district’s CTE programs include various disciplines that allow students to experience hands-on learning and acquire skills that are transferrable to many future career pathways in healthcare, construction, technology, engineering, digital media, and many more.
With its robust system of Student Pathways and nearly 80 Career & Technical Education (CTE) programs, Portland Public Schools (PPS) offered a wealth of opportunities for students to achieve success, yet suffered from an awareness issue.
The district turned to Rhodes Branding to develop clarity for College & Career Readiness and CTE teams’ initiatives, which are aligned in career development goals yet specific in programmatic offerings. Our team created a graphic for PPS to cleanly and concisely present the Student Pathways available through College & Career Readiness, and refreshed the “Future You” logo used for CTE programs and events – updating the recognized mark with the district’s brand guidelines.
To build brand recognition and cohesion across the CTE course offerings, we developed visually engaging flyer templates to promote all 16 CTE Programs of Study, customizable to detail the courses, community college alignment, skillsets, and potential salaries associated with each.
We also developed a Menu of Career Connected Learning detailing opportunities for industry leaders and local professionals to provide students with real-world insights on career pathways and relatable success stories through the PPS Partner Connect program.
